Available for Master Workshops
For 10 years Ms. McGhee operated a professional
dance school and a 30-member dance company as part of a community
outreach program through the Claremont Neighborhood Center (Bronx,
NY). Since 1979 she has produced and co-produced theater showcases
dealing with social concerns at venues such as Avery Fisher Hall
at Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Aaron Davis Hall at
City College, Rutgers University, Tiffany Hall and numerous
studio locations throughout the tri-state area. She has also promoted
many free-lance and established dance companies and artists such
as Gallman's Newark Dance Theatre and
the Batala Dance Troupe.
As a free lance instructor and choreographer
she has taught master classes and workshops at Bayonne Youth
Center (Bayonne, NJ); MIND Builders (Bronx, NY), the
Young & Gifted Performers' Workshop (Brooklyn, NY); Rising
Spirits, Djoniba Dance & Drum, and West Side Dance Project
(New York, NY).
While she has created numerous works with
young people in mind, the focus of her choreography has always been
"male/female" relationships and empowering women through the stories
depicted in her choreography. Her style has often been described
as "spiritual," "impactful" and "provocative."
